Alan and Rachel Howell
Alan grew up in Houston, Texas, and Rachel is from College Station, Texas. They met at Harding University, where Alan received degrees in Marketing and in Bible & Religion and Rachel received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. They joined the team in 1999 and were married May 20, 2000. Rachel traveled on various medical missions trips to Guatemala and Nigeria while in college, and both Alan and Rachel were missions interns in Togo, West Africa in 2001, following that with a survey trip to Mozambique. After graduation, Alan began working towards his M.Div. at Harding University Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, and Rachel began working as an RN. During their time in Memphis Alan worked for the Highland Street Church of Christ as the campus ministry intern. Alan and Rachel are sponsored by the Donelson Church of Christ in Nashville. Their daughter Abigail Ruth (Abby) was born July 30, 2003 during their time in Lisbon, Portugal. “Ellen Grace (Ellie) was born at Rachel’s parents house in Plano, Texas on November 17, 2005 during their first furlough.”
